The sea is an open expanse, where our longings and dreams balance on a blue horizon.

As islanders, our identities are embedded in the rocks – our homes, cities and temples are built from honey coloured limestone. The jagged garigue countryside extends and gently rolls out into golden bays of sand, or drops suddenly into hundreds of metres of chalky cliffs. Here at home, the sense of insularity can be comforting. We know our beginnings and our end. We can sense the edges of our land.

It is the sea that allows us to transcend and to open our minds. We are a harbour from where we set sail and return to safe haven. Atop the waves we are allowed to venture out into the cosmos.
