Anamnesis
The project is an introspective visual art exhibition by Clint Calleja, consisting of paintings, sculptures, photography and installations revolving around the theme of ‘Trauma and Memory’. The artworks will be unfolding through autobiographical recollections that remain imprinted in his memory. Unfortunately, most of these are of a traumatic nature.
Curated by Kenneth Cassar, this exhibition is an intimate confession through four life-changing tragic chapters which have marked the artist and his family in a short period of time
Artist: Clint Calleja
Curator: Kenneth Cassar
The project is supported by Arts Council Malta.

Art can be a means to unlock and express memories or feelings and help the artist process trauma, anxiety, depression. It can also help artists come to terms with their past. This is very much an important undercurrent in Anamnesis whereby Clint Calleja is revealing his innermost self and putting his soul at rest at the face of four traumatic events he experienced.
Whatever the materials and processes used to create the artworks, the main force behind trauma art is troubled memories. This is not therapy art, but a powerful expression of his trauma and memory as a medium.
Anamnesis explores trauma and memory through art, but this can take other artistic and expressive paths. It is for this reason that we are inviting University’s Għaqda tal-Malti to share with us literary works inspired by trauma.
