Celebrating Traditional Japanese Culture

Entrance: Free, though booking is required.

The event consists of four parts, starting with a demonstration of how masters of Japanese sweet confectionery produce miniature pieces of art to enjoy with tea, as well as for decoration. This will be followed by a traditional tea ceremony by a Sekishu-isa master who will present a style with over 350 years of history, directly from the samurai era. At the end, guests will be able to enjoy both Japanese sweets (made from Japanese azuki beans) and Matcha green tea while being introduced to the background-story of these arts. The final part of the event will be a Tsugaru Shamisen concert by the internationally renowned shamisen player Keisho Ohno.

17:30 – 18:30 Kanou Shoujuan – Japanese confectionery cooking demonstration (Spot A)
18:30 – 19:30 Sekishu-isa SPIRIT OF THE SAMURAI, Tea ceremony demonstration (Studio B)
19:30 – 20:30 Tea ceremony experience and Japanese confectionery tasting  (Spot A)
20:30 – 21:30 Tsugaru Shamisen Player KEISHO OHNO live concert (Studio B)
