Circuits presents Human+=Machines – Electronic Music Malta

27 July 2024 @ 6:30 pm

Date and Time
Saturday, 27th July, 2024, 6.30pm

humans+=machines is a new experimental project exploring the intersection of human creativity and machine autonomy. This project introduces an avant-garde creation and performance approach in which artists collaborate with machines not just as instruments, but as co-creators, exploring new innovative approaches in artistic expression.

All our gatherings will feature open dialogue among all participants, including the audience, ensuring an interactive and inclusive experience. Artists will share insights into their creative processes and engage in deep discussions about the philosophy of artistic interdependence, celebrating and examining the evolving role of machines in art and music.

humans+=machines is a journey into the unknown, a series of creative experiments that ask everyone to reconsider the possibilities of human artistic expression and machine autonomy seamlessly merging. Each session is an exploration of how creativity is evolving as a collaboration between human and machine, questioning our understanding of who—or what—can contribute to the artistic process.

Our first event features a performance by Dr. Zicotron, a trained pianist skilled in modular synth programming. He will be crafting an environment where he collaborates directly with his machine, by designing autonomous generative patches that not only complement but lead the musical exploration, allowing the machine to take center stage alongside him. The showcase will also include a discussion with Dr. Zicotron as well as Rudi Agius (Son Of), a veteran electronic musician with over a decade of experience applying machine learning in cancer research. Together, they will explore the innovative fusion of technology and art, providing fresh insights into the evolving landscape of musical creation. The event will be hosted by Tina Camilleri.
