Creating Artificial Hands: A quintessential engineering challenge
Date and time
Wednesday 12th April 2023, 7pm
How many times have you used your hands today? Often enough we don’t know. Hands are one of the main reasons humans have ended up being such incredibly successful animals. Emulating these multi-purpose-tools is an ongoing quest for engineers.
Join Malta Café Scientifique’s event on Wednesday the 12th of April at 7pm, Studio B (Music room) at Spazju Kreattiv where Prof. Michael Saliba willpresent his research on robotic hands.
Artificial hands are versatile tools that can be applied to a diverse range of tasks. They can serve as prostheses, or can function in environments such as underwater or in space where humans can’t work.Due to the complexity of the natural hand and of its function, these devices are hard to design.Engineers need to decide which properties to focus on when replicating hands.
