Gabarrón | The Colours of Hope
Cristobal Gabarron’s first collaboration with the United Nations dates back to 1986. At that time, the flight of that dove that traversed the skies of the earth, carrying in its beak the slogan Our Hope for Peace, was already unequivocally aimed toward hope. And it would immediately be converted into the commemorative stamp of the International Year of Peace.
Because of the ascent of this dove, that starts this exhibition dedicated to the United Nations, a considerable part of the artist’s work began to purposefully focus on the universe of peace, parliamentarism, freedom and human rights. That cooperation between human beings inspires the purest principles of the United Nations, which also began, from that moment on, to rely on the works of Gabarron as an expression of some of their great international commemorations.
Once again, culture and art thought and creativity provided the main substance, as Gabarron saw it, of that hope with which humankind aspired to change course.
Apart from the main exhibition at Spazju Kreattiv, the project will include the public installation at St George`s Square, Valletta, entitled Universo de Luz (Enlightened Universe), and AMBIT event at Ġgantija Temples, Xagħra, Gozo, that brings together artistic creations on biodiversity and the values of integral heritage that will travel the five continents.

Gabarrón | the Colours of Hope – Art Workshop led by Cristóbal Gabarrón and Anna Calleja
Saturday 10th December 2022 | 11am
To mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration and to raise awareness of the importance of Human Rights, the OHCHR, the United Nations and the Gabarrón Foundation are preparing to launch the second edition of an international drawing competition for young people. The first edition (https://k4hr.gabarron.org) was celebrated in 2018 to highlight the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the importance of its 30 Articles, adopted by the United Nations on 10 December 1948.
It is essential in our turbulent times to promote as widely as possible human rights so that every woman, man and child on this planet can live in dignity and peace. Such an initiative is an investment for a sustainable and inclusive future, with the participation of young people in promoting education through arts and creativity.
