Her Say not Hearsay commissioned by Spazju Kreattiv is a theatre project, with original writing, that delves into the lives of three different women, unravelling relateable stories.
The first monologue goes back to 1945 when working women were being made redundant and the repercussions therein. The character, a fierce young woman, galvanised by the suffragette movement, rises to challenge the religious and social aspects of society at the time, which resulted in women achieving the vote in 1947.
The second monologue deals with menopause, and the reality that it is often untalked about when in reality it affects all women. Infused with humour and real situations, it makes the audience think about how women navigate this transitional phase.
The third monologue delivers a chillingly realistic portrayal of domestic violence, unravelling the intricate nuances of what, how, and why this form of violence must be unequivocally denounced. Through poignant human connections, it calls for a reckoning with the harsh realities that permeate such relationships.
Her Say not Hearsay emerges as a powerful exploration of the female experience, delving into the profound intersections of history, personal growth, and societal challenges.
