INĦOBBOK (I LOVE YOU) is a project about words and love. The project presents text as an art object and explores the tangible, visual, audiovisual and sensory aspects of words, where the languages used are Maltese and English, Gozitan Dialect and slang. The aim, however, is to strip words of their ‘abstractness’ in order to unveil their more palpable qualities.
Defining and portraying oneself in relation to love, desire, narcissism and anonymity is at the core of the project, and where ideas and concepts are presented through a series of original writings – in diary and communicative forms – audiovisual means; documentary techniques of objects, emotions and memories; interventions through social media and telecommunications; and through techniques associated with traditional arts and crafts, such as crochet and stitching.
In other words, the relation between the ready-made, the over-used, the original and the ethereal is explored in what is, essentially, an interactive, playful and visually stimulating project.
