KorMalta – Holy Week Concert

16 April 2025 @ 7:00 pm

The KorMalta Ensemble, under the guidance of Masahiro Taniguchi and with Riccardo Bianchi as Artistic Director, presents an extraordinary programme that weaves together sacred and folk traditions from around the world. The concert delves into spirituality across eras and cultures, beginning with Mykola Leontovych’s heartfelt ‘Otche Nash’ and featuring masterpieces by composers such as Monteverdi, Byrd, and Bruckner.

The evening includes deeply moving works like Kim Arnesen’s ‘Even when He is Silent’, Gyöngyösi’s evocative ‘De profundis’, and Duruflé’s luminous ‘Ubi Caritas’. Maltese heritage is celebrated with Patrick Quaggiato’s ‘Gesù mio con dure funi’.

The musical journey is enriched by oriental traditions with ‘Ayyuha somuhu?’ and ‘Lao rahal soti’, concluding with the dramatic ‘Tenebrae factae sunt’ by Kristina Vasiliauskaite. This concert promises an intimate and universal experience, celebrating the profound connection between music, faith, and humanity.
