Referred to as Italian opera’s greatest tragedy, Otello is the exceptional union of music and drama of profound philosophical depth and thrilling theatricality – a masterpiece which almost never came to be. Otello is based on Shakespeare’s tale of a Moor who, eaten up by jealousy, is driven in a downward spiral towards the destruction of himself, and all that is worth living for.

Quite tragic, made all the more so with an outstanding cast and orchestra playing an unprecedented role in Italian opera.
