Between 2016 and 2018, Fondazzjoni Kreattivitá and the Valletta 2018 Foundation collaborated on an international programme of artists’ residencies based in Għarb, Gozo.

This aimed to enrich cultural diversity within the national creative scene, particularly that of Malta’s sister Island whilst encouraging productive interactions between international and local creatives, international creatives and local communities as well as physical and virtual environments.

27 Projects by 38 artists from Germany, US, Egypt, France, Canada, Israel, Pakistan, Switzerland, Greece, Australia and Jordan amongst others were produced in the remote and relatively laid-back environment of Għarb.

Not Just The City demonstrates a sample of the work produced away from ‘The City’ exactly at the farthest North Western tip of the Maltese Islands.

This exhibition comes at a time of flux, when the artists’ residency programme for Fondazzjoni Kreattività will, in 2019 develop into a collaboration with the Valletta Design Cluster, along with other collaborative partners.
