Preserving Mnajdra: Advanced AI techniques for limestone protection
The MEGALITH project focuses on protecting the Mnajdra Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from environmental degradation. This initiative investigates how environmental factors contribute to the deterioration of Globigerina Limestone. Using numerical simulations and AI models, the project maps meteorological conditions to stone degradation processes.
The presentation, led by Prof. Ing. Daniel Micallef and Prof. JoAnn Cassar, will highlight these cutting edge methods. This multidisciplinary effort, supported by Heritage Malta and funded under MCST’s Fusion R&I Research Excellence Programme, marks a significant advancement in heritage conservation. The event will take place on April 1st, 2024, at Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta.
The event is supported by Spazju Kreattiv, the University of Malta, and the Malta Chamber of Scientists.
