Malta Café Scientifique: Studying Roofs from Space
Date and Time
Wednesday 16th March at 7pm
Malta Café Scientifique would like to invite you for an exciting local case study presentation as part of a multidisciplinary project studying the behaviour of traditional roofing (deffun) and modern concrete roofs in Malta. Using innovative methodology, researchers will present the development of their interdisciplinary studies, including conservation science, materials, building behaviour, environmental monitoring and satellite imagery.
This study has shown that proper safeguarding and correct use of such roofing techniques will reduce the ubiquitous use of air conditioning by increasing building user comfort, while reducing buldings’ carbon footprints to help Malta achieve EU CO2 emission-related goals.
Join Malta Café Scientifique’s discussion at Studio B, Spazju Kreattiv on the 16th March at 7:00 pm where Prof. JoAnn Cassar (Department of Conservation and Built Heritage) and Prof. Charles Galdies (Institute of Earth Systems) and will talk about a new approach to studying traditional roof behaviour in a changing climate.
