Pawlu Curmi ‘il-Pampalun’ was a person whose contributions to Malta’s carnival cannot be ignored. Born on the 12th December 1930 in Valletta, ‘Il-Pampalun’ was the 12th child out of 13, and from a young age, he showed a particular interest in carnival by helping out his father Giovanni with creating carnival floats and grotesque masks. From that point, his career in the carnival sphere continued and evolved as he began to touch upon elements relating to dance, choreography and much more.

Anne Immelé's project 'Melita, מלט −mlṭ, refuge' started in Malta during her visits in different caves throughout the islands, coming across traces of Phoenician civilizations in the wider contemporary context of an active migratory crisis. Since ancient times, human beings have sought refuge as a critical component for survival. The notion of refuge is especially anchored culturally in the history of Malta, whose Catholicity is also rooted in the biblical tale of Saint Paul's shipwreck and his finding shelter in a cave on the island.
